“Why are boat cockpits so boring or require so much maintenance” I wondered especially on the vast cockpits of sailing catamarans. My “ Deckfab and Beautiful Marine Floor” brands set out to address that and make life just that little more pleasurable

After a studying a BSc (Hons) Degree in Maritime Studies specialising in Leisure Boating and being brought up in a boat mad family I began my career in the City of London within Marine Insurance. City commuting was not for me so I left to be a sailing instructor. I became particularly interested in Catamarans after skippering one trans-Atlantic through a well documented storm in October 1987. I started my first business in chartering and selling modern sailing catamarans, a business I sold, and I am pleased to say it still flourishes today. I joined as a Sales Director for a prestigous brand of sailboats but left to start my own business again selling a variety of marine products. One such product was PVC Synthetic Teak and I soon hired someone to make panels from my garage in 2008. Dedicated premises soon followed and expansion alongside other small but successful business ventures. PVC Materials were supplied by most of the leading manufacturers but in 2018 I formed a distribution company of marine flooring and decking products to fitters. This led in turn to investing in tooling and a partnership with a pvc factory in UK producing pvc decking materials to our own specifications.

We embarked on a mission to ensure top-notch quality from manufacturing to fitting. All too often, high-quality decks were compromised by poor installation, or subpar decks were created due to faulty templating. The truth is, deckmaking and fitting are distinct skills—deckmakers aren’t typically the best fitters, and vice versa.

That’s why Deckfab and Beautiful Marine Floors are dedicated to delivering a seamless, high-quality customer experience from start to finish. It’s been a journey, but we’ve made steady progress over the years. We’ve developed robust processes and trained reliable tradesmen to consistently provide an excellent and repeatable customer experience.
